Incorporated in the year 2019, IndiVillage Foundation is a nonprofit organization focused on closing the learning and skill gap in rural India with interventions in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
We enable youth (current generation) and children (future generation) to participate in sustainable livelihood opportunities by empowering them with 21st century skills. While doing all this, we also apply a gender lens to our initiatives and seek to eliminate the gender disparities.
Before our inception in 2019, we have served in rural India for over ten years, through IndiVillage Tech Solutions, our social enterprise.
We educate and upskill children and youth in rural India and enable them to be productively employed (gainful or self-employed)
Why?
India’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) can grow from the current $3 trillion to $9 trillion by 2030, if the country’s working-age population — is productively employed, according to a report by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
900 million people in India are in the working age population which is expected to expand by 100 million by 2030. Closing the learning and skill gaps of its future and current workforce will be critical for India’s growth.
Empathy, Adaptability, and Commitment.
An alumna of Lady Shri Ram College (LSR) and Gandhi Fellowship, Akanchha has over 7 years of experience in the domains of education and gender.
