Sushant, a Class 1 student at a Government Primary School in Yemmiganur, was part of our Storytelling program with a cheerful and energetic personality that brought life to every classroom session.
Like many young children, Sushant found it difficult to sit still and stay focused for long periods. During the initial storytelling sessions, he was often distracted and preferred to play rather than participate in group activities. While his enthusiasm was evident, engaging him in structured learning required a different approach.
Recognizing this, our facilitator Vyshnavi took the time to understand Sushant better. Rather than discouraging his energy, she patiently connected with him through conversations, asked about his interests, and gradually encouraged him to listen and take part in the stories and activities. Through consistent support and positive reinforcement, Sushant began to develop a stronger interest in the sessions.
Over time, a noticeable change emerged. Sushant became more attentive, actively participated in storytelling activities, and even started encouraging his classmates to stay engaged. His growing confidence and involvement reflected the impact of creating a learning environment where every child feels understood and supported.
The change was visible beyond the classroom as well. During a parents’ meeting, Sushant’s mother shared that the storytelling sessions had brought joy into her son’s learning journey and that she had observed positive changes in his behavior and enthusiasm at home.
Sushant’s story highlights an important lesson in early childhood education: every child learns differently, and meaningful learning begins when educators meet children where they are. Through patience, understanding, and child-centered facilitation, a playful young learner discovered the joy of participation and engagement.
For Sushant, the Storytelling program was more than a classroom activity. It became a space where his energy was nurtured, his confidence grew, and his love for learning began to flourish.
