Sindhu, a student from a government school near Yemmiganur, was part of our Tech Her Forward program with an enthusiasm for learning that stood out from the very beginning.
As the third of five daughters in her family, Sindhu has grown up understanding responsibility at a young age. While her parents work in the fields away from home, she and her younger sister stay with their uncle in a nearby village. Reaching school each day requires significant effort — she walks several kilometers to the nearest bus stop, travels in a crowded bus, and then walks again to reach her classroom. Yet, she never lets these challenges stand in the way of her education.
Sindhu has always enjoyed mathematics and approaches learning with curiosity and determination. Through Tech Her Forward, she was introduced to computers and coding through Scratch. The experience opened up a new world of possibilities for her. She quickly developed a keen interest in coding and often expressed her excitement about exploring and creating projects on her own.
Beyond technical learning, Sindhu found inspiration in the program's focus on future aspirations and personal growth. While many children her age are still discovering their interests, Sindhu speaks confidently about her dream of becoming a District Collector. Her motivation goes beyond personal achievement — she hopes to create a future where girls have equal opportunities and do not face discrimination because of their gender.
Sindhu's story reflects the resilience and ambition that exist in many rural communities. Despite the long journeys, family responsibilities, and limited resources, she continues to pursue her education with determination and optimism.
For Sindhu, Tech Her Forward was more than an introduction to STEM. It was an opportunity to explore new possibilities, strengthen her confidence, and take another step toward the future she envisions for herself and for other girls like her.
